We are pleased to announce the house`s audio system has been upgraded improving the overall acoustic experience. Hope you enjoy…!!!!

Follows our agenda:
Cuban Thursday: Latin Jazz

Definition:

Latin Jazz is a mostly non-vocal music based on traditional Latin rhythms, which incorporates the structures and practices of modern jazz with an emphasis on the instrumental soloist and improvisation. While Afro-Cuban jazz is based on traditional Cuban rhythms, Latin jazz by definition includes any and all musics from Latin America, the Caribbean, and certain countries in Europe.

In comparison with traditional jazz, Latin jazz employs straight rhythm, rather than swung rhythm. Latin jazz rarely employs a backbeat, using a form of the clave instead. The conga, timbale, güiro, and claves are percussion instruments which often contribute to a “Latin” sound.

The Musicians:

Pepe Cisneros, the piano “killer”; Luís Cabrera on saxophone; Jorge Luis Ceruto on trumpet; Eduardo Espasande with the congas; Rodrigo “Papito” on timbales and Thiago Alves on double bass.

The Party:

Beautiful people, awesome beats combined with lovely frozen Cuba-Libres.. must see!

Friday Fusion: Ted Falcon (USA) e Thiago Espírito Santo

Ted Falcon plays violin, since age 6, being passionate for Brazilian music. Created the LA Choro Ensemble after studying Choro for years – even playing a role of innovator as he brought to traditional choro the violin… Over his several journeys to Brazilhe has played with Gilberto Gil, Dominguinhos, Alessandro Penezzi, Hamilton de Holanda to name but a few.

Thiago Espírito Santo is a virtous musician, plays double bass like few, and brings along his guitar too. The trio – or will it be a quintet…- is to be completed with Alex Buck who will be playing drums and keyboards.. Quite a night!!

Saturday Jazz: Alcântara Family

Grand-grand-grandfather played flute, grand-grandfather leaded a coral band, grandfather played clarinet, saxophone and run an orquestra. Dad masters drums and percussion and mom was singer and pianist playing along her sister who played piano. The Alcantara family has still more musicians among its members, 3 uncles & 3 cousins. Conclusion: a big band is possible when the Alcantara get together!!!

This week 3 family members will be among us: hosting Vitor Alcântara high sax, cousin Daniel D’AlcântaraMaurício de Souza high sax , Marinho Andreotti double bass, Edinho Sant’anna piano & Celso de Almeida drums. trumpet and uncle Carlos Alberto Alcântara sax tenor. Joining the family will be
